著者のDavid Bachは今やアメリカで超売れっ子のファイナンシャル・プランナー。特に女性向けのパーソナル・ファイナンスの話で全米ツアーも行ったり、テレビ出演も多い人だそうです。
今年１月のアメリカ出張の時に空港で買ってそのままになっていたのですが、やっと腰を入れて読んでみました。
お金との基本的な付き合い方、やるべきこと、やってはいけないことが平易に、しかし信念を持って解説してあります。
印象的だったのは、次の下り。日本でまことしやかに語られている「アメリカじゃ、小学生でも投資の基本知識を知っている」が真っ赤なうそであることが見事に暴かれています。もし、そんなにお金の基礎知識が充実していれば、あんなに個人破産の多い国にはならないはずです。
"Imagine for a moment how different your life would be if you had learned everything this book has just taught you about handling money when you were still a kid.
The fact is, you shouldn't have been needed the material in this book. All this stuff should have been taught to you in school, along with math and reading and history. But for some reason, our educational system has decided that there is no room in the schools for lessons about money." (p.235)
訳書はまだ読んでいませんが、既に出版されているようです。訳本でも原書でも、あなた自身のために、あるいはお子さんのために一読の価値ありと思います。
